Companies operating out of serviced offices in Northampton may be interested to hear how one expert believes small businesses will be affected by health and safety reforms.
Roger Bibbings, occupational safety adviser at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA), claimed that the government's decision to reduce inspections will impact on organisations.
"RoSPA's view is that the fundamental value of education and awareness-raising in reducing casualties at work, particularly in SMEs [small and medium-sized enterprises], is being overlooked," he stated.
It was suggested that it will be important to ensure companies are receiving information about health and safety and to encourage proactive behaviour.
Mr Bibbings noted that all members of the industry will have to "work together" to prevent recent positive developments from being lost.
His comments follow the announcement by the Department for Work and Pensions that the number of inspections carried out across the UK will be reduced to ease the burden on businesses.
