Businesses currently on the lookout for offices to rent may wish to consider an alternative, if recent suggestions are anything to go by.
The National Computing Centre (NCC) has stated that business IT spend this year is likely to increase to a total $3.350 trillion (£2.206 trillion), a rise of 3.9 per cent from last year's spending of $3.225 trillion.
Firms looking to keep down costs may wish to consider a virtual office, an arrangement that has worked well for Office Space in Town client The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association.
Michael Dean, head of marketing at the NCC, suggested desktop virtualisation is growing in popularity as it offers reduced running costs, while outsourcing of day-to-day operations will also grow.
He said: "Small and Medium Enterprises will ask themselves if they really need to employ an IT manager if IT can be reliably and cheaply delivered by an external supplier."
