Businesses based in serviced offices in Northampton may want to follow the advice of one security expert and ensure they back up their data regularly.
A spokesman from database and application security provider Imperva explained keeping copies of important documents and other files "is a very important business requirement" as it ensures valuable information is not lost in the event of a power outage or hard drive failure.
However, the representative also emphasised the need to have measures in place to ensure the data remains secure, stating: "What if someone walks off [with] the backed up data or downloads it on the sly?"
Using encryption software and ensuring all backups are kept in a locked room are two methods serviced offices users could employ to prevent such an incident.
Office space occupiers may also want to ensure their premises are kept as secure as possible.
Adrian Platts of the Business Crime Reduction Centre explained experts can be hired in order to install burglary prevention systems.
