There is a "range and depth" of occupants of office space to let in Northampton, Coventry, Leicester and other West and East Midlands locations, it is suggested.
Mark Prisk, business minister, observed the diversity in the region during a series of meetings with local enterprise partnerships from across the Midlands.
"Events like this demonstrate the sheer range and depth of entrepreneurial talent that exists here," he said.
For new firms looking for office space to let in Northampton, or anywhere else in the surrounding area, the complexity surrounding the process may be less than in previous years.
"We are cutting through the unnecessary red tape and bureaucracy that weighs so heavily on companies," Mr Prisk explained during his visit.
Northamptonshire County Council says it has already submitted to the government a proposed business case for the area's own local enterprise partnership.
Calling Northamptonshire "the crossroads of England", it adds that this submission responds to proposed changes to regional economic development outlined by the Conservative-Liberal Democrat coalition.
