Carrying out stretching exercises could help to reduce stress among those working at serviced offices in Edinburgh, it has been suggested.
Terri Bodell, a consultant clinical psychotherapist, explained how extending limbs restores healthy blood circulation and boosts energy levels.
She described this pastime as one way to keep "muscle tension down" and this is important in the neck and shoulders.
"[By stretching] your body is no longer tense ... your shoulders aren't halfway to your ears with the knots of lactic acid caused by stress and physical tension."
Ms Bodell added that exercising the body when sitting at a desk can help ensure everything is in the right place and individuals feel comfortable.
Moving around while at work may prove to be good for people's health following the results of a recent survey published in the American Journal of Epidemiology.
The research found that employees who spent ten or more years in sedentary work had almost twice the risk of developing colon cancer than those who are more mobile in their job.
