By securing a good domain name, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), such as those in serviced offices in Edinburgh, could help boost their profits.
An article on SMEweb stated that a catchy title for a web address is easy to remember makes it easier when customers come to look for a particular company online.
Nora Nanayakkara, business development director at Sedo - the web address provider - said there is some confusion from small enterprises about whether they are entitled to the .co.uk or .com portal address the firm's name is registered under at Companies House.
This title may actually be registered by a third party or another business, "which can lead to the SME selecting a seemingly random domain name, or one that is too long and hard to remember," she noted.
By choosing an appropriate web address, SMEs – including those in offices to rent - can produce good returns as it boosts natural search traffic and helps towards search engine optimisation, SMEweb observed.
Last week, the SAP Business One application was launched, which allows company bosses to check on the performance of their business while they are away from the office.
