The government should "make life easier" for small businesses such as those operating out of serviced offices in Edinburgh, it has been claimed.
A spokesperson for the Forum of Private Business (FPB) explained how the VAT rise that was introduced on January 4th is more likely to have a negative impact on less-sizeable companies.
"Typically, smaller business margins are much tighter than bigger businesses so they are much less likely to be able to absorb the increase and not put the prices up," the representative stated.
As a result, he explained that the FPB is calling for the country's leaders to make concessions for small organisations.
It was suggested that the best way for less-sizeable companies to guide economic recovery is if the government reviews legislation that directly affects them and removes any unnecessary aspects.
The comments follow a recent report released by the Federation of Small Businesses that found 70 per cent of its members expect the VAT rise to have a negative impact on their company.
