Companies may find they are able to save large sums of cash by taking simple actions to reduce their energy consumption.
The Committee on Climate Change recently reported the UK requires increased effort levels if it is to meet carbon targets, which require a 34 per cent drop in emissions by 2020 in relation to 1990 levels.
Jim Haywood, environment director at Business in the Community, stated that in the average office around £6,000 per year is wasted by leaving equipment on across the weekend and at bank holidays.
He said: "Reducing energy consumption by just 20 per cent can add the same sort of amount to profits as an increase in sales of something like five per cent."
Firms may find that working within a business centre can help to reduce costs.
