Workers, such as those in serviced offices in Northampton, should ensure that they leave their workplace over their lunch break.
This is according to Hermie Hogg, a health and wellbeing consultant and founder of Hermieopathy, who called fresh air an "absolutely vital" factor in employee productivity.
People who do not get outdoors "are not going to perform as well as they could do", she continued.
Ms Hogg said that members of staff should still go out if it is dull or overcast as "the light rays still go through your body, even though the sun is not out".
It enters "through our eyes and really makes a big difference", she continued, recommending that people take off their sunglasses to receive the full benefit.
Her comments follow research from sandwich chain Subway, which found that approximately ten million people in the UK take their lunch break after 15:00 BST, due to increasing pressures.
