Small businesses operating out of serviced offices in Northampton may be among those turning to internet-based applications.
A new survey carried out by YouGov for Intuit UK found that more than one third (38 per cent) of senior staff use these types of services to help run their companies.
The research revealed that many organisations are now accessing documents through cloud-based applications.
Pernille Bruun-Jensen, managing director of Intuit UK, said: "Small businesses in the UK are showing increasing confidence toward using online services to manage core business functions such as financial management."
Of the 500 companies questioned, 49 per cent said being able to share their documents easily is a key reason for using internet-based services.
Meanwhile, 70 per cent cited the ability to view work from anywhere as the main motivating factor.
Intuit is currently offering a 60-day free trial of its new QuickBooks accounting software, which automatically backs up data.
