Workers in serviced offices in Northampton may be more understanding about redundancy if employers are honest about the process.
Paul Quinn, an employment solicitor at Stephensons Solicitors LLP, explained that transparency can help to limit the likelihood of aggrieved staff bringing tribunals for unfair dismissal.
He described how maintaining employee engagement can make them more aware of the reasons why companies need to downsize and let workers go.
"[If] they understand the reality of the situation ... [they] may be less inclined to bring a claim against the employer if they realise that effectively the employer has no other option," Mr Quinn stated.
However, it was noted that sometimes there will be an employee that is not easy to appease and, in those circumstances, a compromise agreement would be one of the best options.
The comments follow a recent statement from the Work Foundation that claimed employment tribunal reforms are unlikely do little to create jobs.
