Small to medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from serviced offices in Northampton and other locations are some of the businesses that should be the centre of coalition policy.
This is according to a spokeswoman from the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), who described these organisations as "the backbone of the economy".
The representative advised the government to allow existing firms to take advantage of the national insurance contributions holiday to reduce payroll costs, in order to continue lowering unemployment.
She claimed that "99 per cent of business in the UK" and "more than half of the private sector workforce" come from SMEs.
Only six per cent of companies surveyed in the Recruitment and Employment Confederation's most recent JobsOutlook stated that they were planning to reduce staff levels in the coming year.
Conversely, 65 per cent of respondents declared they anticipate a growth in their permanent workforce over this time period, showing a steadying of confidence among recruiters.
