Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating out of serviced offices in Northampton have been advised how to help ensure they are given funding by banks.
Phil McCabe, spokesman for the Forum of Private Business, explained it is vital companies collate their facts and have a sound argument to offer.
"Small business owners need to up their game in terms of how they produce and present the financial information in order to minimise the likelihood of the banks saying no," he stated.
However, it was suggested that SMEs can only do so much and that the government needs to push for more affordable lending.
Mr McCabe described how many organisations are struggling to gain funding from major banks and an increase in local decision-making would help boost this.
His comments come after Andrew Cave, head of policy at the Federation of Small Businesses, recently claimed that financial institutions still have the power to prevent companies from working by turning down loans.
