Employers in serviced offices in Northampton may begin hiring new staff this January, it has been suggested.
The CareerBuilder's 2011 Job Forecast revealed that businesses are planning to expand their workforce as their performances grow.
Tony Roy, president of CareerBuilder EMEA, who carried out the survey, said: "Employers are hiring again, albeit at a guarded pace."
He added that the research points to "gradual, moderate improvements in the UK job market in 2011".
Of those questioned, 39 per cent of employers said they intend to take on a mixture of temporary and full-time staff this year.
Technology was highlighted as the key area where organisations would focus their recruitment with one-in-five stating this as their focal point.
Sales took second spot with 18 per cent listing it as the top field, while engineering was close behind at 14 per cent.
Elsewhere, the Trades Union Congress recently warned that companies would have more freedom to sack employees under government proposals to review employment tribunal law.
