Businesses working from serviced offices in Northampton may wish to reduce the likelihood of a staff member tripping, falling or slipping.
Senior policy and technical advisor at the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (Iosh) Jill Joyce noted these are responsible for a third of all major injuries sustained in the workplace and 20 per cent of all those that involve an employee absence of over three days.
Initiating accident prevention strategies cuts the likelihood of these incidents happening by as much as 50 per cent, curtailing the occurrence of civil injury claims and reducing business outgoings, she added.
Preventative measures depend on the working environment but can involve improvements to lighting, slip resistant flooring and markings indicating alterations to the surface, the expert declared.
Slips, trips and falls cost British enterprise around £520 million every 12 months through civil injury claims and other expenses, Ms Joyce said.
Companies may wish to begin implementing this advice immediately, as it is better to have risk management strategies before an accident than to wait until a lawsuit, founder of personalinjurylawers.co.uk Nicholas Tate recently stated.
