Companies running from serviced offices in Northampton may wish to ensure their online marketing is optimised for mobile telephones.
This is following the advice of Rob Thurner, mobile consultant and digital trainer at the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing, who said this may require the use of professional agencies.
These people will be able to ascertain what equipment is being used to access a website and tailor the content specifically for the capabilities of that technology, he explained.
He declared it is "fundamental" that firms begin to realise the benefits they can achieve by using the internet, arguing that it "has the greatest growth potential".
"Building a mobile site isn't simply a case of redirecting traffic from the URL," the expert noted.
Mr Thurner's comments follow those of Professor Joshua Bamfield, director of the Centre for Retail Research, who declared that smaller organisations should consider using social networking websites such as Twitter and Facebook when marketing.
