Small businesses operating out of serviced offices in Northampton may want to be "careful what they wish for" when it comes to tax.
This is following comments made by fellow of the Chartered Institute of Taxation Andrew Gotch, who explained that a review of the current system could mean companies will end up paying more each year.
He described how over the last 13 years, less sizeable organisations have expressed a dislike for the complicated taxation method.
This was supported by the results of a recent survey by the Forum of Private Business, which found 57 per cent of company owners would rather pay more in exchange for an easier system.
Mr Gotch commented that this claim reflects the "level of desperation" felt by small organisations.
However, the expert warned: "Given the government's desperate need for money, it is unlikely that any simplification is actually going to make it cost-effective to pay more tax."
