Companies need to do more to harness the power of human resources data, according to one expert, in news which may interest firms working out of serviced offices in Northampton.
In an discussion on combining resource management and IT during the FT Connected Business podcast, HR expert and partner at KPMG Mark Williamson suggested HR directors do not have the same insight into how to improve their practices in the same way other division heads such as the marketing chief do.
Lots of information is currently captured using enterprise resource planning systems, but that data does not filter up to the people at the top in any meaningful way, he noted, adding: "That's the gap for me at the moment."
In terms of how businesses should look at the long-term, Mr Williamson stated: "It needs to be a view that really takes into account what the strategic talent agenda is within the organisation overall."
