Organisations operating out of serviced offices in Northampton may be interested to hear that the Institute of Directors (IoD) believes now is the time to confront the issue of taxation for small businesses.
Commenting in response to the Office of Tax Simplification's (OTS') recent report on reviewing the current system, the IoD claims some areas are bound to cause debate.
Richard Baron, head of taxation at the organisation, explained that in many ways the information "raises more questions than it answers".
However, it was suggested that this is a "good thing" as businesses should see some positive outcomes.
"We can, and should, implement some quick wins," Mr Baron stated.
The IoD noted that the report provides an opportunity to "make a real difference" to the tax system and in particular spark debate over the subject of merging income tax and national insurance.
In the Small Business Tax Review, the OTS concluded that there is a real diversity of thought about what simplification would entail.
