Businesses that currently use the HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) Employer CD-Rom at serviced offices in Northampton may want to take note of changes that have been announced.
The device has been replaced by a new online resource designed to help employers run their payroll systems.
HMRC has launched the Basic PAYE Tools facility that contains all the features of the CD-Rom but also automatically updates itself.
This is designed to ensure all the aspects contain the latest information and figures.
The new system can be downloaded at www.businesslink.gov.uk/basicpayetools and will be needed by companies going forward.
In addition, HMRC recommended signing up to email notifications.
The government body stated: "HMRC will no longer be mailing hard copies of guidance to employers, so these alerts are now the best way to ensure employers are up-to-date with PAYE issues."
Among the features found on the application are a P11 calculator, an employee database, the ability to file forms and a learning zone.
