Businesses working out of serviced offices in Northampton could be some of the enterprises for whom the government's Green Investment Bank (GIB) could create significant business opportunities.
This is according to Andrew Raingold, executive director of environmental business coalition the Aldersgate Group, who stated that this will be the first national public bank solely set up for environmental technologies.
He explained this could "give the UK an edge in its ability to attract global funds for environmental projects" and is an example of the government "leading the way".
Industrial energy efficiency will be one of the areas prioritised by the GIB, he said, adding that £3 billion of primary capitalisation would leverage £15 billion from the private sector by way of investment.
This would provide the UK with many business opportunities, he concluded.
The GIB aims to encourage environmental innovation while maintaining financial returns by providing economic infrastructure of a particularly high quality.
