Flexible working may be something bosses at serviced offices in Northampton want to consider, following one expert's comments.
Gill Trevelyan, head of good practice services at the Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, explained how it will not only be employees who benefit from such work patterns.
She described how allowing staff to vary their shift can boost available labour, help to achieve targets and improve people's quality of life.
"Providing flexible working can help to reduce absenteeism, increase employee engagement, improve efficiency and productivity and tackle the causes of stress," Ms Trevelyan added.
It was suggested that the benefits of introducing a policy could be "far reaching" for organisations in today's "24/7 way of working".
Her comments follow a recent report from Demos which stated that inflexible jobs can cause adults to become withdrawn from their children.
The study found that working conditions can have a direct impact on parenting behaviour.
