Employers operating out of serviced offices in Northampton may want to consider providing their workforce with time to volunteer, following the results of a new survey.
Research carried out by YouGov on behalf of volunteering charity v found that despite a strong demand from staff to engage in such activities, many companies fail to give their employees a good level of support.
More than half of workers (58 per cent) said they would get involved in volunteering programmes if their boss encouraged it, yet only a third of managers admit to doing so.
However, 96 per cent of employers acknowledged that workplace skills such as self-confidence, team work and grasping an understanding of social and cultural issues can be attained through helping others.
Terry Ryall, chief executive of v, said: “Volunteering is fantastic way of enhancing an employee’s well-being while adding to the success of the business."
People can sign up to programmes through v's website, vinspired.
