Changes to printing habits in serviced offices in Northampton or elsewhere could bring companies financial benefits, according to one IT reuse professional.
Andrew Boddington, marketing director for Return on IT, noted that "probably 80 per cent of laser printing is used internally" and therefore these documents do not have to be "at the peak of presentation quality".
For this purpose, "refills suit everyone" and firms should consider filling up old printer cartridges to reduce outgoings, he explained.
As his enterprise wishes for people to make environmentally-sound decisions, Mr Boddington explained that other pieces of technology "can be reused having been data wiped and cleaned".
Measures such as this help to improve the environment while utilising existing equipment and improving the business, he concluded.
This follows statements made by Groundwork programme coordinator Dominic Wood, who noted that good maintenance schedules and timer plugs to ensure the office printer is switched off can have a "big role to play" in reducing a corporation's carbon footprint.
