Firms using serviced offices in Northampton or elsewhere may wish to consider how much attention they pay to health and safety, following an expert's observations.
Nicholas Tate, founder of personalinjurylawers.co.uk, stated that many enterprises, particularly smaller ones, only seriously consider the risks of their workplaces when they have to.
Although companies should have these policies in place "from the start", many times it takes "an accident and the fear of legal action" to prompt businesses to act, Mr Tate declared.
His comments correspond with research from his website, which revealed 24 per cent of employees in the UK know where the first aid kit is kept in their workplace, with only 18 per cent aware of what to do in a fire.
A total of 73 per cent of respondents admitted not being sure of the safety requirements in their job, with 49 per cent asserting that they had never looked at any documentation referring to health and safety.
