Companies running out of serviced offices in Northampton may be some of the enterprises that are said to benefit from talking and sending post to potential customers.
Stefan Drew, founder of Stefan Drew Associates, explained that direct mail and one-to-one communication are two particularly good forms of marketing.
"Good networking still works very well," he asserted, arguing that customers are more likely to purchase items from people they have spoken to and respect.
This can be done online but is more effective in person, he stated.
However, "direct mail can work extremely well if it is done properly", Mr Drew declared.
Quite often, corporations post advertisements to a significant number of potential clients, but they will realise greater benefits from sending them to individuals who have already displayed an interest in the products, the expert continued.
This follows a statement from chairman of small business at NatWest Peter Ibbetson, who noted that marketers should consider asking their current customers to promote the business's services.
