People working in serviced offices in Edinburgh may want to follow the advice of one expert and consider making use of flexible benefits.
Matt Duffy, partnership manager for consultants Lorica, noticed schemes such as annual leave trading or childcare are very popular, with more people in business centres asking for them.
"We are seeing a lot more focus now – in employees requesting and employers promoting – on flexible working," he said, explaining this is due to people trying to maintain a healthy work-life balance.
These suggestions follow a recent Employee Outlook survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, which revealed more and more employees are experiencing a worse standard of living.
A total of 37 per cent of employees say their quality of life has declined in the last six months, whereas only 31 per cent believed so at the end of 2010.
This figure rises in the public sector, with 47 per cent of employees claiming their standard of living has fallen.
