Organisations based at serviced offices in Edinburgh may want to consider reviewing their health and safety policies following one expert's comments.
Occupational safety adviser at the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents Roger Bibbings explained how introducing a good workplace wellbeing culture can promote efficiency and cut costs.
He claimed that "too many employers are still not learning lessons from accidents and incidents" and, as a result, "people are still being hurt in easily preventable accidents because not enough is being done to ensure safety".
Companies were urged to ensure they have a strong management team to oversee and deal with any potential areas of concern and ensure workers are aware of policies.
One area Mr Bibbings suggested needs particular attention is occupational health issues such as stress, as these are more commonplace than serious accidents.
A recent survey by recruitment firm Michael Page supports this argument as it was revealed three in ten people have felt so over-worked they have called in sick in order to recover.
