An increasing number of people due to retire this year may continue to travel to jobs at serviced offices in Edinburgh, a new survey suggests.
The Prudential's Class of 2011 study revealed that more than a third (38 per cent) of individuals are intending to stay on in their positions.
For 22 per cent of these people their motivation is a feeling that they cannot afford to stop working, with 40 per cent predicting they will have to remain in a job until they are 70 years old.
Vince Smith-Hughes, head of business development at Prudential, said: "The only realistic option for those who want to avoid having to delay their planned retirement is to start saving as much as they can as early as they can."
The findings come as the government begins the phase out of the Default Retirement Age, which is intended to be complete by October 1st.
