Directors in serviced offices in Edinburgh may wish to take proactive steps to improve the gender diversity of their managerial staff.
Carmen Watson, managing director of Pertemps Recruitment Partnership, claimed "a call to action" from chief executive officers in FTSE companies is required to enable this.
She said she supported Lord Davies' report, arguing he did "an excellent job of bringing the issues to the fore" and noting that it allows business leaders to "do something themselves" before any quota is enforced.
These may involve alterations to an enterprise's branding to increase the awareness female members of staff have of new positions and to encourage these people to apply for jobs, the expert added.
Research undertaken by the Observer agreed with these comments, discovering that currently, women make up 31 per cent of all board appointments made since February 24th 2011, more than twice the proportion seen in the years before this.
However, this figure still represents only 18 women and 13.3 per cent of all individuals hired for these roles.
