Firms with serviced offices in Edinburgh should ensure that any interim management staff they hire have strong skills, particularly on an interpersonal level.
This is according to the advice of Dr Graeme Codrington, futurist and speaker at Tomorrowtoday.uk.com, who noted people in this position will need to "handle the politics of the organisation".
Alongside this, they must be able to quickly identify with their new colleagues and understand their concerns, he added.
"Specific skills, expertise and knowledge" linked to the tasks they must fulfil and other talents related to their particular functions and duties will also be required, the expert continued.
Dr Codrington claimed the effectiveness of interim managers can be ascertained through analysis of "how quickly they complete their assignments, as well as how well the team runs once they have left".
He had previously declared that many people in this role have consultancy skills and are often useful during times of financial crisis.
