Small companies working out of serviced offices in Edinburgh may be interested to hear that new funding has been announced by the enterprise minister Jim Mather.
The European Regional Development Fund is set to provide more than £6.6 million to fund support and advice for small businesses and entrepreneurs and create more than 7,000 positions.
Mr Mather said: "The money supports projects with the potential to enhance local economies, build strong and sustainable economic growth and support the creation of thousands of new jobs."
He added that it is important that Scotland builds on the recent rising employment and encouraging gross domestic product figures.
The money will help to establish a business mentoring project set up by the Scottish Chambers of Commerce and Lanarkshire and to provide training schemes for young people.
Elsewhere, the government recently announced that in addition three important museum collections relating to Scottish history have been awarded funding.
