Corporations operating from serviced offices in Edinburgh might want to ensure they have adequate risk management procedures to reduce the likelihood of an employee being injured as a result of a fall.
A spokesman for the Health and Safety Executive said "practical arrangements" ought to be in place to lessen the chances of an incident such as this occurring.
"Good entrance design" can aid in preventing falls, as can "control cleaning methods" to ensure all spillages are cleaned up and anything that could lead to a member of staff slipping is cleared away.
"Inappropriate access equipment or not planning the work properly" is responsible for most accidents of this type, the representative continued, asserting that a large number of falls in the education sector are due to people "standing on chairs or furniture to reach something above head height".
Many companies ignore health and safety until an event occurs that puts them at risk of being sued, founder of personalinjurylawers.co.uk Nicholas Tate recently alleged.
