Businesses that subscribe to the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) and are looking for serviced offices in Edinburgh may be some of the enterprises that benefit from its alteration.
John Barwise, chair of the Cumbria Green Business Forum, said the government has listened to corporate concerns by reducing this "red tape".
CRC will now be "easier to understand and implement" and smaller companies should be able to work out the fixed price allowances more easily, he continued.
Mr Barwise explained that the reduction in the number of fuels the scheme relates to will also benefit some organisations.
However, he added that members of the forum "regret that this government insists on keeping the revenue raised through this carbon tax" and they believe it should be reinvested in improving energy efficiency of businesses by creating further incentives.
Further changes to the CRC will make it easier to qualify and provide simpler rules for large organisations.
