People looking for jobs in serviced offices in Edinburgh may wish to ensure they have both entrepreneurial and technical abilities.
This is following the advice of Richard Nott, website director of IT recruitment portal CWJobs.co.uk, who said a challenging and competitive recruitment market has resulted in a rising number of employers seeking out staff "that possess sound business acumen".
Alongside this should be excellent levels of job-specific skills, he continued.
Mr Nott noted that "education and training is, of course, still highly valued by employers", but stated it is less relevant whether this is gained through further education establishments such as universities, or "on the job".
His comments follow research from the Office for National Statistics, which found the unemployment rate in the UK fell recently.
During the period between March and May 2011, there were 2.45 million unemployed people, or a rate of 7.7 per cent, representing a quarterly reduction of 0.1 per cent.
