Firms operating from serviced offices in Cardiff may be some of those that can realise financial benefits by using low-carbon vehicles for business purposes.
This is according to Nikki Rooke, head of communications at the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, who claimed doing so can save money on congestion charges, parking and petrol.
Alongside these benefits, company car tax rates reference the pollutants an engine creates, encouraging corporations to take advantage of low-emissions models.
Enterprises must consider the way in which they use their vehicles and make a decision on the models to use based on this, the expert asserted.
The EU has mandated a maximum C02 output for all new cars of 130 grams per kilometre by 2015, which will fall to 95 grams by 2020.
"Industry is firmly on course to meet the 2015 EU emission targets", Ms Rooke proclaimed.
Her comments follow research from the RAC Foundation, which discovered, out of 28 million cars in the UK, only 2,500 are described as green.
