Businesses using serviced offices in Cardiff may be some of those that are increasingly aware of the benefits flexible working can provide.
This is according to Ben Willmott, senior public policy advisor at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, who claimed the popularity of this form of employment rose during the recession.
At this time, it was seen as a way to keep the same members of staff while "reducing working hours until demand recovered", he explained.
The expert also noted that people are "looking to downshift as they get older" and wish to work fewer hours in different roles, rather than experience "a cut-off point at the end of their working lives".
Furthermore, tools such as smartphones and tablets "are supporting this trend" because they allow individuals to work in a flexible manner, Mr Willmott added.
This follows a statement recently made by Heather McLean, editor of mobile news publication Smart Gorillas, who said such technology has had a "massive impact" on corporations.
