People working from serviced offices in Cardiff may be some of those that do not take time off work when they are sick.
A survey undertaken by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) found 79 per cent of respondents carried on going to their job while they were ill at some point in the last year.
Individuals generally did so because they believed they might not feel as bad while they were busy, they had too many tasks to do or they thought they were not sick enough.
A total of 80 per cent of people polled stated that employment is good for a person's mental and physical wellbeing and 91 per cent said they would continue going to work while suffering from a short-term health complaint.
Employers can encourage the health of their workforce and reduce absenteeism by ergonomically designing offices and promoting environmental awareness, Jones Lang LaSalle's Global Sustainability Perspective recently found.
