Serviced offices in Cardiff may want to follow the advice of one expert and change their lighting.
Chair of the British Council of Offices' Environmental Sustainability Group Paul Edwards said new lightbulbs can cut electricity bills by over a third.
Technological innovations have allowed for better and more cost-effective lights, he explained, with a T5 light fitting's slightly smaller tube meaning it uses 35 per cent less power than a T8.
"If you work out your energy bill, you can normally see a payback on that," he declared.
Mr Edwards stated that the most efficient thing to do is turn lights off. Presence detectors and lighting checks in the evenings will ensure electricity is only in use when it needs to be, he added.
A trial in Greater Manchester hopes to encourage businesses to become greener. Electricity North West will pay companies to reduce their energy consumption under certain circumstances and will provide new technology to assist them.
