Plans to extend paternity leave may be unpopular among small businesses operating out of serviced offices in Cardiff.
Chief executive of Work Wise UK Phil Flaxton stated that the government's proposals could cause difficulties for companies if they are introduced.
He explained that small and medium enterprises may struggle if they are forced to allow men up to six months off work upon the birth of a child.
The Department for Business, Innovation & Skills announced on Monday (January 17th) that it would be forging ahead with a new system of flexible parental leave.
However, Mr Flaxton described the initiative as unlikely to prove popular among smaller employers.
"Right now, bearing in mind what is going on in the economy, I don't think that way of thinking will gather a lot of support," he stated.
It was also suggested by the expert that bodies such as the Confederation of British Industry and the Institute of Directors would not be in favour of the coalition's plans.
