Businesses seeking office space to rent might wish to take the advice of the Centre for Alternative Technology (Cat).
A spokesman for the organisation has claimed the first thing a firm can do to play its part in cutting carbon emissions is to carry out an audit of its existing energy.
"Until you've done that you don't know what the key areas are to tackle," he explained.
The spokesman continued it is cost effective for businesses to switch to renewable energy sources, a transition that is already taking place as the majority of big energy companies have invested in sustainable resources.
This could be something that enterprises moving into a new serviced office wish to consider.
A recent report from Climate Strategies stated government targets for reduced carbon production are not sufficient to achieve the market price for carbon required for a peak in its output by 2020.
And according to the Cat spokesman, the coalition is not doing enough to cut harmful emissions; it should incentivise low-carbon technologies and pass legislation to make them cheaper, he suggested.
