Discontented workers could be "damaging" to businesses operating out of serviced offices in Edinburgh.
This is following principal research fellow at the Institute for Employment Studies Dilys Robinson's comments about how the state of employee morale has changed significantly over the past 12 months.
She explained how staff may be becoming increasingly less tolerant of pay freezes, cuts and expectations to work harder as staff numbers shrink.
"The recession in the private sector has been going on a long time now and many workers are probably thinking that 'enough's enough'," Ms Robinson stated.
It was suggested that some individuals may only be remaining in their current role as they are concerned about the financial repercussions of leaving.
However, this could have a negative impact on companies as "disengaged" staff may "voice their discontent to their colleagues".
A recent survey by Badenoch & Clark revealed that 22.8 per cent of UK workers are unhappy in their current job.
