Bosses in serviced offices in Northampton may benefit from becoming more self-aware in terms of what personal areas they can develop in order to make sure they are successful in the future.
Steve Newhall, managing director of Development Dimensions International UK, said self-awareness was the most common asset cited among those who have made a successful change to becoming a leader.
He noted that the second most-wanted trait was self-confidence, which is highly desired by those entering transition, with a lack of self-belief being indicated as a factor in a failed conversion.
Mr Newhall added that the notion of confidence is interesting as part of it is built up in a personality, while some comes from increased knowledge and previous experience.
Last month, the Institute of Leadership and Management revealed 94 per cent of human resources staff feel senior management lack essential leadership qualities and require development in this area.
