Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) - including those in serviced offices in Northampton - could cut down on costs by designing their own website.
According to Basekit, many companies budget to cover the initial costs of implementing a web presence but then overlook the additional money required to maintain the site, with changes to the domain costing up to £150 each time a modifcationis made.
Juan Lobat, chief executive of the company, said the days when firms have to pay someone to create their internet portal are over.
"Even more damaging to a business than not having a website, is having a bad website," he added. "Today, business owners can create, host and manage their website themselves."
Earlier this week, an article on SMEweb noted enterprises could help to boost their presence on the internet by securing a good domain name for their site, as a catchy title is easier for potential customer to remember.
