Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), such as those in serviced offices in Cardiff, have been encouraged to embrace green initiatives ahead of a conference on climate change.
Dr Neil Bentley, director for business environment at the Confederation of British Industry, said the low carbon sector represents a good opportunity for companies to grow.
Chief executive of corporate banking at Lloyds Diana Brightmore-Armour added her bank wants to help firms to succeed in their ambitions to become more environmentally-friendly.
"Helping them to understand the opportunities and challenges posed by the sustainability agenda is another way in which we can support them in the coming years," she stated.
Last week, compliance manager at ICEX Jim Bromley observed many large businesses have begun to implement green technologies, but this needs to filter down to smaller enterprises as well.
He noted that the mindset of firms is slowly changing as they are now more prepared to cover the costs of implementing energy-efficient measures.
