Companies with offices to rent in Edinburgh may want to follow the advice of one expert and reconsider their approach to employee self-confidence.
Kevin Friery, clinical director at Right Corecare, noted that lacking self-belief will make staff facing pressure feel depressed, anxious and incapable.
This can result in these individuals finding it hard to cope with work and not performing to the best of their abilities, he asserted.
He recommended support for these employees, arguing that this makes them believe they have skills and allows them to make better, bolder decisions, rather than "having to take the anxious choice all the time".
When self-belief falls, performance, aspirations and "everything else" drops alongside it, Mr Friery declared.
These comments follow a recent survey from the Chartered Management Institute, which found that 74 per cent of workers in the UK believe they are regularly untrained or under-qualified when making decisions.
A total of 55 per cent of respondents also stated that their manager does not seem to possess sufficient confidence or ability.
