Businesses, such as those using serviced offices in Cardiff, could prevent staff from leaving the organisation by adapting their management techniques, one expert has noted.
Mike Petrook, spokesman for the Chartered Management Institute, observed workers requesting internal transfers demonstrates a lack of engagement with the job they are in and says a great deal about how people are managed within employment.
"What employers must do is concentrate on building remuneration packages that incorporate the earnings … with things like development opportunities and flexible approaches to work," he said.
Mr Petrook added firms may be able to keep their workforce if they develop good lines of communication about the highs and lows the company is experiencing, rather than letting developments come as a surprise.
According to a report by PricewaterhouseCoopers published earlier this month, British businesses' failure to retain workplace talent to the same extent as other mature economies costs them around £42 billion a year.
The study also found almost a quarter of UK employees feel their pay is insufficient and are therefore intent on finding a new job.
