People working in serviced offices in Cardiff may be interested to hear the opinion of one expert, who has suggested most businesses now judge employees on results rather than the time they spend working.

Martin Lyne, director of SME marketing at T-Mobile, said the company had conducted research which showed small firms in particular are happy for workers to decide on their own schedule.

This trend goes hand in hand with the finding that these businesses are assessing their employees' worth in terms of what they achieve instead of where they are and what they are doing at a given moment, Mr Lyne explained.

He said many of these enterprises depend on part-time staff - some of whom are parents - and mobile technology gives them the flexibility to work around their external commitments.

"Mobile technology helps small businesses be productive regardless of where they are," the expert added.

The latest Recruitment and Employment Confederation Jobs Outlook report showed flexible staffing arrangements will remain a key expansionary factor in the next 12 months, with one in four employers looking to recruit agency workers over the next quarter.
