Enterprises with offices to rent in Northampton may be some of the places that wish to consider their sustainability credentials, after an expert claimed that this can bring financial benefits.
Groundwork programme coordinator Dominic Wood declared that significant savings can come simply from reducing energy consumption and raw material usage or implementing more efficient processing techniques.
Smaller enterprises may discover an increased loyalty among their client base or even a growth in new business, he added, with "more and more tendering documents" asking about "green credentials".
The expert continued by claiming minimising waste production can lower landfill taxes, or even make it possible to avoid them.
Consumers "vote with their feet and demand more sustainability from the products they buy and the companies that produce them," Mr Wood concluded.
This comes after the government announced the creation of the Green Investment Bank, which will provide funds to companies producing technologies, helping the country's transition to a low-carbon economy.
