Tim Gibbon, director of communications consultant Elemental, noted that this form of technology enables companies to "source forthright feedback" from their customers.
Benefits of this kind of network can be realised through a close observation of audience responses and the development of strategies resulting from their views, he declared.
Brands can utilise their consumers for the purposes of research and development and can trial their services and products instantly and on an international scale, he continued.
Time and money can be saved as corporations "work through kinks before a launch" and "address any questions or enquiries" in a fast and effective manner, Mr Gibbon concluded.
His recommendations follow Social Media Day, organised by Mashable, which occurred on June 30th and celebrated the "revolution of media becoming social".
